You’ve heard of sweating for the wedding (and you may or may not have heard our official stance on it). But regardless of what your goals are, one of them should definitely be to feel your best—from the inside-out. Read some super-easy ways to simply feel as healthy, happy and balanced as possible—even in the throes of wedding planning—below.
Take a walk every day, no matter how short.
Not every city is ideal for commuting on foot, but remember that it’s a balancing act. If you sit in your car stuck in traffic for a few hours every day only to sit at your desk for the rest of the day, try to take a walk before or after work to clear your mind. Maybe you can take over dog-walking duties from your partner, make the trek to a nearby coffee shop in the morning or simply start walking to and from the gym to get some extra steps in. However you want to do it, walking is cardio that’s good for your body and your stress levels (hello, endorphins).
Go outside.
And yes, you should make sure you’re walking outside as much as possible. According to integrative medicine specialist Frank Lipman, MD, and author of the book How to Be Well, getting into green space (daily or at least every week) is as vitally important to your health as eating your greens. If you live somewhere where green space is sparse, do yourself a favor and make time to go to a local park or area where you can actually enjoy nature and not sit on your computer doing work or wedding planning. Fun fact: When you go outdoors, your parasympathetic nervous system will literally switch on so you shift from information overload to a state of pleasure, according to Lipman. Sounds nice, right?
Get a green juice .
You should still eat—or—drink your greens as much as possible though. Whether it’s a once-a-week pickup from your local café, or a shipment of juices to store in your fridge (Raw Generation will deliver any flavor you could dream of), getting real, raw nutrients is vital if you want more energy and glowing skin—and who doesn’t? Drinking juices chock-full of vitamins like B12, C and E will have you feeling amazing long before your wedding day rolls around, regardless of the “accidental cheat days” that might slip in here and there. (It happens to the best of us.)
Practice self-care.
You’ve heard it before, but self-care is so important, whatever it means to you—it could be your favorite boxing class, a new skincare routine or simply a wine-and-face-mask night with your best friends. Make time to do the things that make you happy and put you at ease, and that feeling will follow you down the aisle—we promise.
