Once you’ve found your baker and florist, make sure everyone is on the same page with your vision for a fresh flower cake. Your florist can prepare the flowers for your baker to carefully add to their creation. A few tips for fresh flowers: Stems should be wrapped in cellophane or stuck in floral picks to avoid ruining flavor or leaving any residue from the plants on the frosting, and if you’re not using edible flowers (day lilies, marigolds, pansies and gardenias are all safe to eat), then make sure you’re using pesticide-free flowers.
