But how do you pull it off? Whether it’s an all-white wedding you’re after, or you’d simply prefer for your guests to sport blue at your beach wedding, you’ll have to put in a little extra effort to make sure your ceremony is monochromatic. (Pro tip: It’ll pay off in spades with gorgeous wedding photos and just a generally stylish, elegant and curated vibe.)
Oh, and if you’re nervous about seeming over-demanding about your dress code request, don’t be. Your wedding should be your vision, and there’s a way to go about it so you don’t put people off with your request.
First, get the wording right. Your wedding guests will be looking for your dress code—but might not love being told exactly what to wear. Thus, you should be careful with your phrasing. Alongside your attire, try something along the lines of, “Please indulge us by dressing in white, if you don’t mind.”
Spread the word by including it on your wedding website and save-the-dates. Also, enlist your wedding party members (or whoever else is in your communication plan) to spread the word by mouth (especially if this might be a relatively last-minute decision).
But don’t decide to do this on a whim a month before your nuptials—you’ll risk inconveniencing people who’ve already shelled out money for wedding outfits that probably don’t fit your new dress code.
