How to Get Gugu Mbatha Raw is Natural Wedding Makeup – When you work with beautiful actresses including Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong’o and Lena Dunham, you quickly learn how to embrace the “less is more” makeup trend and let your beautiful clients shine. Case in point: thenatural, glowing look makeup artist Nick Barose created for Gugu Mbatha-Raw at the Met Gala in May.

Mbatha-Raw and Barose have been a team since 2013, and no matter what the event, Barose always makes sure the star’s makeup look “stays fresh and the gorgeous golden skin is showing through,” he told PeopleStyle.

This look — natural but gorgeously “done up” — is perfect for a bride who wants to look like herself on her wedding day.

The first step to a complexion that looks “lit from within” and radiant? Making sure your skin is properly prepped, Barose says.

Dab a light moisturizer across your face, but then wait for it to dry and blot away any excess product to avoid any greasiness throughout the day. Then pat in a small amount of foundation with a beauty sponge for sheer coverage, that allows your skin to be seen through the product.

To get Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s natural wedding makeup, follow these steps:

Start with a clean, moisturized face. Apply a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer all over your face and neck, blending it well to create an even skin tone.

Use a concealer to cover any blemishes, dark circles or imperfections. Gugu’s makeup artist used a concealer that was one shade lighter than her skin tone to brighten up her under eye area.

Apply a light dusting of powder to set your foundation and concealer in place.

Use a neutral shade of eyeshadow all over your eyelids, and blend a slightly darker shade into your crease for definition.

Use a brown eyeliner pencil to line your upper lash line, keeping the line thin and close to your lashes.

Curl your lashes and apply a coat or two of mascara to your upper and lower lashes.

Fill in your brows with a brow pencil or powder that matches your natural hair color.

Apply a natural-looking blush to the apples of your cheeks, and blend it out towards your temples.

Finish with a nude lipstick or lip gloss that complements your skin tone.

To keep your makeup in place all day, use a setting spray to lock it in and prevent any smudging or fading.
