What’s better than a bachelor/ette party? A bachelor/ette weekend! To throw a prewedding party cool enough for our most influential couples of 2018 (seriously, they are so cool), The Knot and American Express Platinum hosted an epic three-day weekend getaway in Southampton, New York, complete with giant Jenga, pool floats, a movie night on the lawn and a themed SoulCycle class everyone’s still talking about. And we want to share our trendiest style and planning secrets with you.
Spreading your party out over an entire weekend allows you and your crew to enjoy the best of both worlds: one chill night in and one big night out, a few healthy choices here and a few, um, not-so-healthy choices there. (It’s all about balance, duh!) Plus, if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate one day, you still have the rest of the weekend to make up for it.
From the signature drinks to the gorgeous flower arrangements by B Floral, check out our favorite trendy touches that made the Amex Ties The Knot party truly unforgettable, then steal inspiration for your own bachelor/ette party, shower, wedding reception and beyond.
One Night in and One Night Out
The HonsTake advantage of the long weekend and make the most of both nights. Spend an evening chilling and catching up over fresh, home-cooked favorites, then use night number two to hit your destination’s local hot spots. Highlights from the Hamptons getaway included a healthy Friday night dinner at home, with a menu of delicious, easy-to-make recipes curated by Platinum Collective Member and the Impatient Foodie herself, Elettra Wiedemann, followed by a Saturday night out in East Hampton at EMP Summer House in partership with American Express.
Total Personalization
The HonsMonograms are nice, but why not take it a step further with a custom logo? Make your mark wherever you go with a cute logo that represents you and your crew. And it doesn’t have to be fancy, expensive or big—we stamped a simple, yet adorable boating knot (get it, Amex Ties The Knot?) onto our favorite décor all weekend long, including the bar, a giant surfboard and photo backdrop installation to name a few. If you want to make your weekend as Insta-worthy as possible, this is a good place to start.
A Healthy Dose of Nostalgia
The HonsAdulting is hard—you do enough of it already—so don’t be afraid to slow down and get back to the simple pleasures you love (and used to have way more time for) with your besties. A colorful candy bar, classic lawn games (think: giant Jenga and cornhole) and an outdoor screening of Father of the Bride on the lawn brought out everyone’s inner kid all weekend long.
One Tequila, Two Tequila
The HonsNo one can turn down a solid tequila cocktail—so it’s a good thing it’s the thing to drink right now. Our couples sipped a refreshing signature sip dubbed the the Platinum Heat, infused with Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco, Hella Spicy Margarita mix, Gotham Greens basil, Hella Smoked Chili Bitters and a splash of grapefruit soda. (Drooling yet?) And while tequila is definitely trending, go your own way and craft a signature drink that highlights your favorite booze.
At-Home Glam Squad
The HonsSkip the salon and hire beauty pros who can get you gorgeous from the comfort of your own home. On-demand beauty apps, like PRIV, will arrive at your door ready to rock whenever you need them. Get a blowout while drinking a signature cocktail? We’ll take two.
Sweat Together
The HonsGroup workout classes are always a good idea. You’re going to want to work off those drinks somehow (read: so you can do it all again the next night!). Whether it’s a yoga, dance or spin class—our squad crushed an epic SoulCycle class at The Barn in Bridgehampton—choose an activity that gets everyone moving and gives you another excuse to take selfies in matching tanks. The wedding party that sweats together, stays together.
Live Entertainment
The HonsOkay, so not everyone can have celebrity spinner Hannah Bronfman in the DJ booth, but if you’re looking to splurge on one amenity to take your party up a notch, a live DJ is a game-changer—especially for groups with the urge to get down (like this one was!).
