While there are tons of delicious frosting flavors out there for your wedding cake, there’s a new one on the block that may cause your guests to go back for seconds (or thirds)—enter Olive Garden’s new Cookie Butter Cake.
Have you ever heard of Cookie Butter? Then you know exactly how delicious and addictive it is. If you haven’t, here’s the rundown: Trader Joe’s started the trend when it started selling Speculoos Cookie Butter (aka a jar of happiness), which is Speculoos cookies ground up into peanut butter-style form. If you like sugary, buttery, caramel and gingerbread-flavored cookies and a slightly crunchy yet creamy consistency, this is right up your alley. You can dip anything into it, or spread it on breakfast or dessert items, so making cookie butter frosting was only a matter of time.
However, since Trader Joe’s no longer has the monopoly on cookie butter, lots of companies have since started to make their own cookie butter variations—hence Olive Garden’s Cookie Butter Cake. It has cookies crumbled in a creamy, sweet butter frosting, layered on vanilla cake and topped off with a caramel drizzle. The brand-new dessert hits Olive Garden menus on July 31.
If you’re envisioning an elaborate wedding cake, see if your local baker can whip up their own cookie butter confection. But if you want OG’s cake for your reception, rehearsal dinner or other wedding events, it can be ordered as a full cake when you call the restaurant directly to place the order. (In the restaurant, it’ll come as an individual slice.) And while you’re there, you may as well pick up some breadstick bouquets, right?
