Travel Time: 20 hours from New York City
Newlyweds Stacy and Jake wasted no time when it came to their honeymoon—a trip that began in Queenstown, New Zealand, the day after their vows. “We arrived and Stacy still had some semblance of a wedding updo that had been slept on for 20 hours,” Jake says. Once the pair settled into their hotel on Lake Wakatipu, they joined a group of travelers on a private tour of the Routeburn Track. “The views were breathtaking,” Jake says. “We drank glacial water from the lake.” The couple also sipped on wine during their time visiting the vineyards in western New Zealand, before boarding a gondola to the top of Bob’s Peak for zip-lining and luging. From there, Stacy and Jake drove five hours north to Franz Josef, where they kayaked and took a helicopter to the top of a glacier. Afterward, the couple boarded a train from Greymouth to Christchurch, and later a plane to Fiji. “We got massages every day and fell asleep under the stars by the pool,” Jake says. “Can’t beat that.”
