California-based couple Ann-Marie and John didn’t have
to travel far for their fall escape
to the Pacific Northwest. In
fact, the newlyweds made the short flight to Seattle because it allowed them to experience three of their favorite things: chilly temperatures, scenic fall colors and an endless supply of stand-out coffee. “We did our research to make sure every hotel we visited had the perfect blend of coziness and charm,” Ann-Marie says. After they landed, the pair first drove to Union, Washington, before returning to Seattle, where they enjoyed waterfront views overlooking Puget Sound. “Since we were traveling during the off-season, we were easily upgraded to an oceanfront room,” Ann-Marie says. From there, the two traveled by train to Portland and drove to nearby Astoria. “Our hotel was in a prime location so we could sightsee without having to get in the car,” Ann-Marie says. Pit stops included trips to local artisan shops and print houses, all while the newlyweds posed for photos along the way. “We sent ourselves postcards from each destination,” Ann-Marie says.
