St. Kitts Honeymoon: Weather and Travel Guide

A volcanic island with dramatic mountains and lush vegetation, St. Kitts, located in the eastern Caribbean, is your prime R&R location. You’ll find pristine natural surroundings, blue Caribbean waters, warm sandy beaches and much more. Nature lovers shouldn’t miss touring the lava formations, tropical forests and blue-green lagoons. For the adventurers, there are always boating tours and scuba diving expeditions. For a lazy day of shopping, let the quaint towns draw you in; you’ll be captivated by their beautiful Colonial architecture and quiet peaceful surroundings.

Before You Go: Need-to-know info

Entry requirements: Passport
Language: English
Currency: Eastern Caribbean dollar
Flight time: About 8 hours from New York City; 10 hours from LA

When to Go: St. Kitts at its best

Best weather: Average temperatures fall between 72 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit year-round, and you’ll find the prime tourism season between December and April.
Note: Avoid hurricane season, which lasts from June through the end of November.

What to Do

Tee off: With crystal blue waters on one side and an eye-opening volcano covered with lush tropical foliage on the other, you’ll find golfing on one of St. Kitts’s championship golf courses a real treat. Check out the St. Kitts Royal Golf Club, but beware on holes 15, 16 and 17 — lest you lose your ball in the Atlantic Ocean!

Sail away: Hop aboard one of St. Kitts’s many catamarans for a day on the water of snorkeling and exploring the vibrant sea life. Many tours will take you to the neighboring island Nevis for a day where you can swim with the fishes and explore the reef. Many packages include all the equipment for a day of snorkeling, and some even offer a barbecue lunch on the beach. How’s that for island life?

Dine right: For a meal as perfect as St. Kitts, make a reservation at Ottley’s Plantation Inn, an 18th-century sugarcane plantation. There, you’ll find a tantalizing menu of West Indian cuisine with ever-changing, fresh, local ingredients.
