The Most Outrageous Wedding Requests Posted to TaskRabbit

What do you do when you’re sitting in the middle of hair and makeup and realize you don’t have a strapless bra for your wedding dress? Or the best man announces he actually didn’t pack the groom’s dress shirt?

If no friends or family are available to help (or maybe you just don’t want to freak out the mother-in-law with a last-minute request), don’t panic. Usually emergencies can be handled smoothly by your wedding pros, but here’s another option too—TaskRabbit. From setting up proposals to cleaning up the after-party, couples are leaning on this day-of chore service for extra help or unforeseen snags. Even after the wedding, they can help write thank-you cards or recycle wedding gift packaging.

For anyone who doesn’t know, here’s how it works: After logging in to TaskRabbit, select which type of chore you need done, from shopping to event help. Then, you get matched with a Tasker in your area who’s ready to help you out ASAP. And what, may you ask, can be requested? A bartender dressed to the nines? A cake cutter and server? Someone to pitch in with cleanup or run to the grocery store for more ice? Yes—all of that, and pretty much anything else.

Here are the most popular tasks they’re asked to do:

  • Setup and break down/cleaning: bag and take out trash, clean bathrooms, take down tents, break down rentals and box things up
  • Personal assistance tasks: pick up food/alcohol/wedding cake (a few even asked Taskers to pick up their gowns!), put together welcome bags and drop them off in various locations, pick up something extra (a bra, flats, flip-flops for reception) and record all wedding gifts
  • Staffing event: welcome and point guests in the right direction at venue, greet vendors, bartend, and serve

And while those are all well and good, if you want some entertainment, here are our favorite, most out-of-the-box wedding-related requests:

  • “We’re having a polo game at our wedding and we need two people to work as flaggers for the event. A flagger is someone who waves a flag when a goal is made.”
  • “Tie ribbons on small cardboard boxes for 500 guests.”
  • “I need some help hanging handmade dream catchers from tree branches for my wedding.”
  • “Need you to purchase a *HUGE* teddy bear (HugFun 93″ Bear) from Cosco and then drive it two hours upstate to a wedding venue. Please make sure you have space in the car for the teddy bear.”
  • “Write all my 300+ thank-you cards before my wife realizes I still haven’t done them…”
  • “Our dog sitter bailed last minute! We are getting married in two hours and need someone to stay with our dog for five hours tonight.”
  • “Wedding proposal setup, need someone to be a photographer to capture the whole thing and the other to help me carry table, chairs, flowers, food, wine to a remote location—about 3/4 mile hike. Bring your hiking game. Need one person to stay with setup.”
  • “Need a male, attractive bartender (minimal to no bartending skills needed, must be able to lift 7 lbs) to dress in a tux or sharp suit and issue compliments to bride and guests from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.”
  • “Need someone to help bride and groom at wedding ceremony as a personal secretary. Must be well dressed in a suit and tie.”
