’Tis the season for slow, soulful ballads. Thanks to a new study by UK-based wedding planning company Hitched—for which they surveyed more than 4,000 individuals who’ve gotten married in the last 50 years—we now know which first dance songs are preferred by couples who marry during the holiday season (aka the months of November and December).
The top 10 songs on the list will suit any first dance year-round, so couples definitely won’t feel hampered to settle on a certain melody based on the season. But besides the expected favorites by Ed Sheeran and John Legend, the study found that several holiday tunes made appearances further down the list as well, including “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Tom Jones and “White Christmas” by Otis Redding (perfect for festive or winter-wonderland-themed receptions). So whether you’re serving candy canes and hot toddies at your wedding and need a joyous first dance to match, or you’re still just looking for some good inspiration, listen to the top November and December first dance songs, below.
