According to The Knot 2016 Real Weddings Study, choosing the right wedding color scheme is still a staple step of the planning process: Up to 97 percent of couples select a specific color palette or theme. And it makes sense—your wedding colors should be one of the first (and most exciting) decisions you make, since they’ll set the tone for so many other details. There are tons of gorgeous color combos to choose, and it’s fun to daydream about which palette is uniquely you. Below, a breakdown of the most popular shades.
For most couples, nothing is more crisp and elegant than shades of white, ivory and champagne. After surveying 13,000 real couples across the country, the most popular wedding colors are in the neutral family, with 34 percent of couples choosing ivory and champagne.
Bold colors are also on the rise—29 percent of couples in 2016 chose a dark blue palette, up 16 percent in popularity from 2009, and 28 percent of couples went glam with metallic shades like gold, silver and bronze. Tied with metallics for the third most popular hue is light pink—no surprise there, since Pinterest’s annual trend report revealed that dusty rose is having a major moment in 2017. We can’t wait to see how couples continue to personalize their palettes with these delicate, romantic and surprisingly versatile colors.
