When you’re planning your wedding, one of the first decisions you’ll make is when your wedding is actually going to be. While Saturday is the most popular day for weddings, off day weddings are becoming more and more common. Why? Well for one, venues can book up their Saturdays a year or more in advance. And two, weekday weddings can save you and your guests money.
Depending on where the wedding is, airfare and hotels can be more affordable mid-week rather than the weekend. And some reception locations, in a quest to book venues that would otherwise remain empty, may offer the same sit-down dinner on a weekday for a lot less cash than it did on Saturday.
But just know that if you’re choosing to have a wedding on an off day, you might get a higher-than-average rate of regrets. Some guests might be all out of vacation days and not be able to take time off work or take their children out of school. The good news? You end up with a core group of die-hard fans at your wedding, which makes the event a bit more cozy and a lot of fun.
So, if you have your heart set on a special day (like your parents’ anniversary or the day you met your partner), but it just happens to fall on a Wednesday, we say go for it.
