Cara Greenstein, creator of the Memphis, Tennessee–based food and lifestyle blog Caramelized, got the surprise of her life. The foodie had no idea that when she was planning a “photo shoot for Whole Foods,” she was actually setting the stage for an epic proposal.

Just before Memorial Day, Cara was asked to style a picnic featuring apple pies and hamburgers for the holiday weekend. Throughout the planning, she was totally unaware that her future fiancé was copied on all the emails between her and the photographer—Whole Foods was even in on it. Cara kept insisting the shoot be casual—T-shirts and flip-flops only. When the photographer suggested they make a behind-the-scenes video, she knew she had to step it up a notch. Cue a new dress and a manicure (phew)!
As Cara was staging the foods on the picnic blanket the morning of the shoot, her future fiancĂ©, Alex, surprised her with flowers and a stunning sparkler. Cara said “yes,” of course, and their family and friends were waiting nearby, eager to celebrate—basically a #dreamproposal.
