When Nathaly Eiche boarded her flight from Vienna to Athens with longtime boyfriend Jürgen Bogner, she had no clue they were secretly jetting off to what was actually their honeymoon. Mid-flight, Eiche noticed the passengers in front of her starting to sing “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. But it didn’t take long for her to figure what was going on when, suddenly, Bogner took a knee, produced a ring and asked Eiche to marry him—to which she instantly replied “yes.”
Bogner knew his proposal had to be bold and special for Eiche, who’d watched most of her friends get engaged and married over the last year and kept hinting she was ready for it too.
“[Y]ou only do this once in a lifetime and, in my opinion, it has to be great. It’s the best day of your life,” Bogner told
ABC News. So why stop at just a surprise proposal? Bogner, with the help of Austrian Airlines, Eiche’s best friend and their family members, also organized a spontaneous midair wedding. (Talk about #weddinggoals.)
In a brilliantly executed plot, he’d snuck onto the flight an engagement ring, wedding bands, a bouquet, a lace sheath wedding dress (that fit Eiche
perfectly—seriously, we’re so impressed), a violinist, an officiant and the couple’s family members, who were hiding in the back rows of the plane. It sounds like we’re making this up, but we promise—Bogner’s just a planning genius.
After changing into her dress and sweeping her hair into a loose, romantic updo, Eiche’s father walked her down the aisle—well, it was a tight squeeze to process side by side, so they walked single file, Eiche’s father holding her dress train.

“It worked out. [Jürgen] did a really good job. I had no idea,” Eiche said of the impeccably pulled-off surprise.
After exchanging vows 35,000 feet in the sky, the airline crew whipped out a special wedding cake and popped some bubbles for the newlyweds and other passengers to celebrate. Bogner even handed out
wedding favors to everyone on board, who were all busy snapping pictures and taking videos of the impromptu ceremony. The bride and groom were then invited into the cockpit to meet the aircraft’s captain and first officer and take photos.
And the best part? The happy couple was already en route to their romantic Grecian honeymoon. So, yeah, we’d say this wedding was pretty fly. Congratulations, Nathaly and Jürgen!
