What to Include in Your Destination Wedding Save the Dates

Q:

How much information should you include on a destination wedding save the date?

A:

Save the dates are essential for a destination wedding, but they don’t differ too much from your typical save the date. The key difference is when they should be mailed—try to send them eight months in advance to give guests time to book travel, request time off work and arrange for childcare if necessary.

Your save the date should include your names, wedding date, the location of the celebration and your wedding website. This gives your guests plenty of information without overwhelming the card. Use your website to give more specific details like nearby airports, preferred hotels (especially if you have a room block) and transportation information. As the wedding date approaches, add additional tips like what to pack, driving directions and the weather forecast. You’re guests are traveling to celebrate alongside you—take the guess work out of it!
