Here’s Why You Should Always Send Paper Wedding Invitations

Maybe you can’t remember the last time you addressed an envelope or dropped something in a mailbox (that’s perfectly normal in this day and age). But when it comes down to it, we promise it’s worth it to do so for your wedding invitations. Here’s why you should always send paper invites instead of (or along with) digital ones.

It shows that you care.

You went so far as to design, print and pay for formally addressed invitations and individually send them to each guest—and it certainly won’t go unnoticed. By sending a real, tangible invitation, your loved ones will get the sense you truly care about celebrating with each and every one of them. Think about it: If you were a guest and received an email or e-vite wedding invitation, would it make you excited to spend money on travel, accommodations, attire and a gift? Present your friends and family with something nice they’ll want to attend. (If you’re looking to save money, it’s totally okay to send an e-vite save-the-date instead, but things that should always be sent in the mail are invitations and thank-you notes.)

You get to set the tone for your wedding style.

Your invitation suite is the first glimpse your guests will get into your celebration’s aesthetic. You get to have more fun with it than you would with a digital invitation by incorporating unique elements and materials (linen, anyone?) with elaborate designs (like watercolor paintings). Your guests will get even more excited to RSVP “yes” to your nuptials and will want to keep the invites—either on the fridge or elsewhere—long past your wedding date.

It won’t get lost in your guests’ inboxes.

While we’d hope your wedding invitation wouldn’t get lost in the shuffle, it’s definitely possible it could get buried in some of your guests’ inboxes, given that we’re living in a world of constant digital correspondence. Why risk it? By choosing snail mail, they’re pretty much guaranteed not to miss it. (And if you’re worried your guests won’t bother to RSVP if they have to mail something back to you, you can always manage your guest list online with our Guest List Manager and have them RSVP there too.)
